About Doc MacDougal's Melodrama Theater
Our beloved benefactor, Doc MacDougal, is a man dedicated to medicating the masses with the purest form of medicine; laughter! Some say he is a fictional character, but then, we've heard that said about Santa Claus as well and we all know he is quite real!
Doc started life as a poor young infant in the illustrious city of West Mineral, Kansas. He had few privileges as he matured, living on the other side of the tracks from such places as the supermarket and the local public school. This made him very succeptible to nearly being run over by trains, as his mother was always sending him on errands to buy more rum. And also to attend school. Even on holidays.
As Doc grew up, he met many people who changed his life for the better. The person who was most influential was a travelling salesman who introduced Young Doc to the fascinating life of a purveyor of liniments and elixirs for the bettering of the human condition. Young Doc became obsessed with finding the perfect cure for what ails you; but found that most blood-letting, leeching, castor oil tonics and such had limited benefit.
Young Doc, after experiments that - sadly - mostly went woefully wrong, decided to try for cures with fewer side effects and began looking into how people who were unusually healthy lived their lives. The healthiest person he knew was a young lady who was always laughing, so he began marketing laughter... as the best medicine!
Doc MacDougal's Miraculous Melodramas are recommended for all ages, from the very young to the very aged. Good for fighting most illnesses (in our opinion, anyway!), Doc's melodramas could be very good for what ails you -
because laughter is the best medicine!
